scale vectors, tensors or densities to the normalisation of their type.
Syntax
normalised = normalize(x)
Description
For an MTEX object, normalize(x, …) calls x.normalize(…). Additional positional and keyword arguments are passed to that method unchanged. Its documentation specifies the accepted inputs, units, symmetry handling and optional outputs. Consult the corresponding method for the behaviour of a particular object type.
Signature
normalize(x, *args, **kwargs)
Methods it calls
| PoleFigure | the pole figures scaled to mean one, or to the pole figures an ODF predicts |
| quaternion | divide each quaternion by its Euclidean coefficient norm |
| S2VectorFieldHarmonic | the field scaled to unit length at every direction |
| SO3VectorFieldHarmonic | the field of unit vectors in the directions of the field, by quadrature at twice the bandwidth |
| SO3VectorFieldRBF | the field of unit vectors in the directions of the field, by quadrature at twice the bandwidth |
| stressTensor | the tensors divided by their Frobenius norms |
| tensor | the tensors divided by their Frobenius norms |
| vector3d | the vectors scaled to unit length |
